Railway:
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is Kent's mainline in miniature. First opened to traffic in July 1927 as the 'World's Smallest Public Railway' and now covering a distance of 13.5 miles from the picturesque Cinque Port of Hythe, near the channel tunnel, to the fishermans cottages and lighthouses at Dungeness.

     2009 Fares:

With six different stations to choose from there are a tremendous number of return or single journeys on offer. Here are a few of the more popular Adult Return fares:

  • Hythe — Dymchurch            £7.70
  • Hythe — New Romney          £10.20
  • Hythe — Dungeness             £13.00
  • New Romney — Dungeness   £7.70

Children 3 — 15 travel at half fare (except Thomas days).
Single Fares
 are approximately two thirds the return rate.
Senior Citizen Return Fare is available every day except Bank Holidays and advertised special events.

For great value buy a special RomneyRover - the All Stations All Day unlimited ticket. FREE admission to the Model Railway exhibition at New Romney is included. Adults £13.00 Children £6.50

The FamilyRover for 2 Adults and 2 Children offers the same benefits and costs just £34.00 (Price held from 2008!)

The Romney Marsh provides excellent opportunities for cycling and walking the dog. We welcome dog owners and their pets and are able to accommodate bicycles (subject to space availability) on our trains. We make a token charge of 50p per dog or bike for a day.
